Health Ministry
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Health Ministry Events:

Walk Across America
How far can you go? Walk, bike, run, swim… whatever you do, we need your help! Join Westside in our treck across America as participants long their miles together for 50 days, in an effort to make it total the distance across the Continental US. These seven weeks will be a time to focus on intentional physical activity and intentional prayer- for your own personal health and the health of our nation!
Health Bible Study
Seek God First, a First Place 4 Health bible study, is planned to be offered in the Spring semester. This class focuses on surrendering to the lordship of Christ, specifically as it relates to overall health. The cost for the class will be $12-15 for the book and materials. Please email the FLC staff if you think you would be interested in participating in this class or for more information.

Our Vision
To bring the hope of Christ to the church family and others through a growing understanding of Christian Stewardship in relation to spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and mental heath and to provide opportunities for Health Professionals to participate in Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry Team is committed to sharing our faith, promoting good health through education, and preventing and/or controlling disease through knowledge and support. The Health Ministry does not provide hands-on care, but rather directs members to the most appropriate healthcare provider and available resources. We don’t replace the ministerial mission of the church, but work to enhance its reach and effectiveness.
What are some typical events and activities the Health Ministry provides?
- Church-wide blood pressure screenings as well as for the Seasoned Adult Ministry (55+)
- First Aid support for regular church services and special events
- LifeChange health classes
- Special half-day seminars on various health topics
- Health information brochures provided at church-wide events
- Prescription Drug Disposal Program participation
