Health Ministry
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What is the Health Ministry?
Our Vision
To bring the hope of Christ to all people through a growing understanding of Christian Stewardship in relation to spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and mental heath and to provide opportunities for Health Professionals to participate in Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry Team is committed to sharing our faith, promoting good health through education, and preventing and/or controlling disease through knowledge and support. The Health Ministry does not provide hands-on care, but rather directs members to the most appropriate healthcare provider and available resources.
How can I get involved in the Health Ministry?
If you are a health professional, student in a health program, or just interested in health, we would love for you to get involved! The ministry typically meets on one Sunday afternoon a month to plan and discuss upcoming ministry events. We are actively looking for more members so please contact Kayla at kthomas@westsidebaptist.org or Roy at rklossner@westsidebaptist.org for more information.
What are some typical events and activities the Health Ministry provides?
- First Aid support for regular church services and special events
- Church-wide blood pressure screenings as well as for the Seasoned Adult Ministry (55+)
- LifeChange health classes
- Special half-day seminars on various health topics
- Health information brochures provided at church-wide events
- Prescription Drug Disposal Program participation
