The Lord’s vision was so compelling that the twelve disciples left everything to follow His lead and since then multiplied millions have done the same.
In his book, Visionary Leadership, Bert Nanus defines vision as a “realistic, credible, and attractive future for your life or ministry organization.” It is the articulation of a desirable destination.
A clear vision has energies by calling forth skills, talents, and resources to see it happen.
Jesus constantly cast vision for the Kingdom of God, describing the character, conduct, and purpose of those that would define the vision. The Lord’s vision was so compelling that the twelve disciples left everything to follow His lead and since then multiplied millions have done the same.
In spite of the clarity of vision and personal example of Christ Himself, the disciples had a hard time grasping and holding to the vision so much so that on one occasion Jesus had to say to Peter, “Get behind me Satan.” The problem – Peter allowed a personal and self-centered agenda to infiltrate his heart and mind, clouding the vision.
As we again seek to clarify our vision as a church family, we must be sure to align the vision with the Lord’s purpose and mission, not allowing self-serving interest to detract or frustrate His vision for our future, preventing His purpose from being fulfilled.
This Sunday we will look at our vision together. Pray for clarity and a passion for His purpose.
See you Sunday with a smile on your face, a Bible in your hand, and a friend by your side.
God Bless,
PASTOR GARY
