Sanctity of life means that life is holy.

Sanctity of life means that life is holy- set apart by God as precious. Human life is in the “image of God” (Genesis 1:26-27). Life begins at conception (Psalm 22:9-10), (139:13-16). No wonder the Bible says “the baby leaped in her womb” (Luke 1:41).

This is why murder is morally wrong and why God said, “Do not murder”. There is something precious and unique about human life that is to be respected and protected. And this is why abortion is morally wrong and has such an adverse effect on all of life.

We live in calloused days. As the scripture says “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3: 1-4). “Terrible times” is not a pretty picture. The word, so translated, means tragic and painful. The practice of abortion at will is one expression of the tragic times in which we live.

There is technical data, psychological paradigms, political policy and laws of the land that allow such a painful and far reaching practice as abortion, but in the end it is contrary to the well-being of life and love and will in the end cause something to die in all of us. This is why we take a stand for life and seek to come alongside persons and families and be supportive and helpful in providing for life and love as God intended.

I encourage you to know the biblical basis for life, know the cultural facts, pray and become involved in protecting what is most precious to God- life and love.
