It’s not that climbing mountains and jumping out of planes is a bad thing.
Ten months after Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was nearly assassinated in Tucson, Arizona on January 8, 2011, she gave an interview with the assistance of her husband Mark Kelly. For the closing question, Giffords was asked, “What’s on your bucket list, Gabby?” She responded with just two words: “Get better.” For many of us, determination to “get better” (spiritually, physically, emotionally, relationally, intellectually, etc.,) would be a much wiser focus than climbing tall mountains or jumping out of a plane.
It’s not that climbing mountains and jumping out of planes is a bad thing. To the contrary, it’s a great thing if that is your interest opportunity. My only point is, “getting better” in terms of personal growth should be at the top of our list.
This Sunday will be another opportunity to grow spiritually, personally, and professionally. Actually, the three can’t be separated as we gather for Bible Study and Celebration.
Church family, I trust that most of you will bring a guest with you. Please plan to bring them by the Guest5 Reception so that I might meet them personally. I can’t wait to see you.
See you Sunday with a smile on your face, a Bible in your hand, and a friend by your side.
God Bless,
PASTOR GARY
